Reviews of THERE'S NO SUCH THING!
Having
read dozens of new fantasy novels on the market, it's a joy to find a
refreshing approach to the genre...This tale is riddled with amusing anecdotes involving
the two in their quest to prove Jay's existence. Oddly enough, initially
they find that the people most willing to believe are people who have a
need for attention from others. Ms. Cottrell has written a fine work that
deals with issues deeper than the actual quest in a subtle manner, such as
that every person adds value to society and that the elderly have a
contribution the young should learn to appreciate. I thoroughly enjoyed
this book and look forward to more adventures with Gina the dragon.

Jay
and Gina's...adventures in trying to convince people that Jay is real are
both funny and touching. Most people just can't or won't admit to
seeing them. Then they happen on a festival about the days of knights and
dragons.
A tale written with the young in mind, but one any adult could enjoy if
they are willing to believe in dragons and little people. Stories
like this will keep us all young at heart. You will love Gina and
Jay. And don't think you know how it will end. There's a
surprise in store for you. Read and enjoy.

There’s No Such Thing ...is a welcome tale of loyalty and
friendship that is sure to delight young and old alike. Ms. Cottrell’s
colorful characters, thought-provoking dilemmas and morals entwine into the body
of the story, one that makes for a fun yet delightfully meaningful read.

"There’s No Such Thing! is a
magical and fuzzy warm read for children and for adults who are still children
at heart. I also believe that the story is a wonderful choice for a
chapter book for elementary teachers to offer students which will hold their
interest and fire-up their imaginations. Cottrell has created charismatic,
memorable, and lovable characters whose voices linger in the mind long after the
final page. "

Gina, a young but precocious dragon,
awakens to find herself in a contemporary small town..and so the adventure
begins. "THERE'S NO SUCH THING!" makes the reader a voyeur
examining his own world from a distance. Gina's task is to help a Wisky
Wasky named Jay convince people to believe in him so that he can keep from
disappearing. Not an easy task in a modern age in which gadgets give
directions, and people young and old no longer wish to believe in magic...Adults will
applaud the common sense of the story while youngsters will find it hard to put
down. It is on my recommended list for young and old. It can be
read many times because the characters teach us so much about love and
compassion.
